It Really Wasn't Set in Stone

Well, shit. I should have known better than to expect it would be this easy. The baby that we were told about on Friday is not the one for us. I didn’t ask our agency any details but what it boils down to is that it just didn’t work out for one reason or another so we are not heading to Kaz just yet. BUT I am OK with it. We’ll get there eventually. I’m just ready to GO already and having to wait all weekend to find this out was sort of torturous. But what it means is that we will have everything ready in time for the next possibility and won’t be running around like a crazy person at the last second. I knew I should have kept my big trap shut until it was a done deal. I guess I just jumped the gun. Oh well, that’s life in the adoption world. At least it didn’t happen after we got there, right? Alright, off to bed. I somehow managed to develop a massive cold over the weekend and I feel horrible. This news didn’t really help my mental state. More news when we find it out. Love, -m

Oh Maren, I'm so sorry. What a huge let down. So disappointing.

At least you're able to look at the bright side, and get a few more things ready.

I hope you get some rest and feel better soon.

And please don't keep your "big trap" shut next time! :-) That's what we're all here for- support in the joyful times AND the disappointing times!

Hoping the next time comes very quickly. Get well soon!

Maren,
I am so sorry that you are delayed, but I am beyond grateful that they did not send you over their and then deliver the news.

Do not keep it quiet either. We are your supporters and we get happy and sad with you, that is what we're here for.

Hopefully your next call is just around the corner.

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh what a bummer. The hurry up and wait game is hard. Like you said the good news is that it will be much less panic for the next call. Does this mean that you are going to get to come to Kazapalooza after all.

Yes, that is definitely life in the adoption world. Hope you hear some good news soon.

What a bummer for sure! Sorry to hear that your exciting departure fell through. Another one of the ups and downs of many on the roller coaster ride of adoption. : (
On a bright side, does this mean you three are going to be at Kazapalooza after all?

Wow, Maren, so sorry that you were put through that test, but so true that it's better to sort things out on this side of the world versus in Kaz. Like KJ notes, we hope this means we'll see you in Milwaukee!

Hi Maren,
Just wanted to send you a quick hello and intro. We too are headed to Karaganda (soon, but when and where is unknown, go figure!).

Looking forward to following your journey,
Melissa

I told Peter that I will always believe the reason was that the baby's mother changed her mind. I can't be sad for the baby, and am glad that you are now ready to go when the next call comes in!...which will be soon...remember my dream. love, Geri

Maren, I just love you. I always loved reading your blog, and your positive nature and loving spirit just comes thru.

I am so sorry you got so excited and had your hopes dashed. This process is so hard, but of course, as you know, once you meet your child, it all becomes clear. However, that doesn't help when you're waiting and the ups and downs that go with it.

I hope this means you'll be at Kazapoolza though.

Love your sushiney spirit more than you know...
