And here we go...
After what seemed like a never ending seven months of drama, we have finally finished our portion of the adoption process and our papers are now in the capable and very experienced hands of our placement agency and a variety of government agencies both here and in Kazakhstan. They have given us a tentative 5 month estimate for when we may get what every waiting adoptive parent is on the edge of their seats waiting for- the LOI. For those of you who are not in the know, that stands for Letter of Invitation. It is basically our ticket to parenthood in that it means we have the green light to buy ourselves a plane ticket, pack up every item we could possibly need for 2 months in a foreign country, and meet our child. It will be a long 5 months (again, tentative is the key word here) but we're planning on making the most of our remaining freedom. We will be accepting any and all invites to do fun adult only activities until we are parents- get your mind out of the gutter, people- you know what I mean! In any case, we are hoping to hang a new stocking by the fireplace for Santa to fill this year. Hallelujah!
